Renters insurance? How much is it, and how do I provide proof of it?

I'm moving into my first apartment next week and realized that i need proof of 'renters insurance'. How much is this...and how do I go about getting it?

It's about $150 a year - if you get it with the same company that has your car insurance, likely the discount on your car insurance will be a LOT more than $150.

They'll give you a "binder", when you get the coverage from a local agent. you can use that as proof.

You Need Proof of renters insurance ?

Renters insurance is something you Buy in case you are robbed
Or the place burns down .
It is optional , Not mandatory .

Who said they need proof ? I never bought it in 30 years of renting .
Sounds like maybe a scammer is at work ?

You go to an insurance agent. Cost depends on coverage. cheap furniture or expensive,( silver, china, jewels, etc.)

It's quite cheap. your proof is the policy you will receive.
